I'm getting the error message sorry SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

What did you try? Your settings.php file or repair_settings.php?

Yeah, you need the link I posted to download repair_settings.php and upload it to your SMF forum.

Mind posting the URL to your site? Have you contacted your host?

I contacted the host. Originally said disk space was all used up. Said they freed some up but that the problem was with software (SMF)

Did you upload the file?

OK...but did you download and FTP up the repair_settings.php file before trying to get to it? It won't exist otherwise, thus the 404 error.

How do I FTP up the repair if I can't get to my Admin panel?

mashby

Your admin panel won't have FTP (cPanel might though)...
How do I use FTP? / What is FTP?

OK, I installed Smart Client. Now what do I do?

tyty1234

Upload the repair_settings.php file to your SMF forum.

The bigger question I would have for you is who is providing your hosting? Do you have a login to that? From there, you can likely establish an FTP account/password which will then make the SmartFTP work rather well (and allow you to upload the repair_settings.php file).

Classic! Host blames webmaster. Typical. Now I guess I don't have a forum. Great
