Icon seen/not seen according with language chosen

When a member choose Spanish in his/her profile, the icon to show there is a new topic would not show.  But if the member changes the language to English, then "New" icon is shown. 

What do I have to change to fix it?  Please, see the pics below.

Try this:

1) Using FTP go to ../Themes/{your_theme}/images
2) Find or create a image folder called "spanish_es-utf8" or "spanish_es"
3) Upload your new.gif image there

But, that's my confusion.  There IS and image of 'Nuevo'  (new) in the folder "spanish_es-utf8" and also in the "Latin Spanish" folder. But it is not shown when the member choose Spanish in 'profile'.

That image is not found. There should be a new.gif image uploaded in ../images/spanish_es-utf8/. The filename should be new.gif.

There is an image new.gif and there is not a problem with that one. It shows well when the language in "my profile" is set to English.

The one that is not shown is "nuevo.gif" which means "new" in Spanish. And that image in Spanish is there because I went to both Spanish language files and saw that icons are there.  I even made a copy of the file. See below.

The problem is 'why' if it is there, it is not showing.

Is there anyone who can tell me where to put the image "nuevo.gif" so it it shown when the member choos Spanish in "my profile"?  The image is there and I can fix the problem. All I need to know is detailed instructions on where to put the image (Adm>... etc)

Is it named as nuevo.gif or new.gif? Do you see the image correctly with SMF Default Core Theme?

I know,  under these two:

Themes>default>images>Spanish_es-utf8   

Themes> default>images>Spanish_latin-utf8

The image says "new.gif.  But when you click to see it says "nuevo"  in Spanish. That's fine but it does not show because it is in the "default" theme and I have a Premium theme "Callisto" so, where/how can I modify Callisto so that when the member choose Spanish as the preferred language the image is shown?
I would not care if it even show the English icon "new". The problem is that nothing is shown, just the hole with the x like indicating that the image is not there and that looks awful. There should be a way to make so that an image is shown there. I am about to open my forum in about a week and I don't want to have that hole there.
Look up at the beginning of this thread and you'll see what I am talking about because I posted a pic.

Only thing you have to do is:

1) Download and extract the attached package.
2) Upload the package contents to ./Themes/callisto114/images/ directory.

It just contains the new.gif image, for your info.

I followed your instructions and it worked! The icon "nuevo" is now seen when the member choose Spanish in their profile.  Thank you very much to everyone for bearing with me until the problem was solved!
