Meta Tags driving me mad....please help

Hello guys my meta tags are driving me mad.

1st, they seem to be doing nothing regards SEO and second, I cant even get Google webmasters tools to even verify my site using there meta code

As im going to take an educated guess and say I have total messed up all the meta tags and place them in the wrong place.........please can someone help me out with this?

well if you can't install this you might want to install it manually go to the site link of MOD which i describe above and from "Manual Install Instructions for SMF " select your smf version click parse and see what you need to edit and where and don't forget to backup a copy of original files....

By the what version are you using??

oh I am using 1.1.9 and running the default layout....will that make a difference?

I'm quite fearful of trusting myself with a manual install :(

don't worry nobody will kill you...go head and which files you will edit make a folder name backup on your desktop and copy there before editing so if something went wrong you can change it with your original files...

manually installed but when i put the Google verify meta tag, it still cant find it......even gave sticking it in global headers and footers, but it just cant find it :(

sincerely Mraza, thank you for even taking the time to help, it more appreciated then you could know!


I downloaded the template index.teplate.php you made, placed it in themes/default/index.teplate.php

the went back into the google meta tag options in admin>Features and Options>layout and where it asks for the google meta tag i put in

it is really wierd ...hands up...

ok one more thing you can do with that meta tag...go to your WebMaster Tools from google, add site name then click on  Verify your site then from "choose verification method" select  create a file name whatever they give with .html extension and upload it to your root directory...hope this helps

Nope, no luck with that, put the html file up could bring it up on my browser fine but for some unknown reason Google still cant see it!

pipechat.tk only has the frame that gets your forum, but your forum is located at pipechat.netne.net. You need to give pipechat.netne.net to Google or add those meta tags to the page with the frame itself.
