how do i change the image in the top right

I have taken over this forum and need to spruce it up. I have treid to upload various themes but cant get it to accept the new ones. just keeps giveing me the old I did remove all the other details just left the download file from part. but still cant get the themes to upload correctly.And no where is it possible to modify the layout of the forum to improve the look of it.I cant find a program that would help me set it up proper.please help me i only have a few tufts of hair left.

What version of SMF are you using ?

Of course it's possible to change the look... does these look like normal SMF installs? (just examples...)

You may very likely be using an older version of SMF.  The newest version is SMF 1.0.1.

It is the latest version just I cant seem to change anything to do with the looks of the site. my site is hxxp:www.cableuk.tv [nonactive]

Maybe you're editing the wrong template ? Two come with the original SMF installation: Yabb Classic and the new smf Template.

To add a new theme you need to

ADMIN>Theme Layout and Settings> Install a New Theme>

If you want a special head then few custom themes will be of use, if you want to play with the header, edit the index.template.php file. Circa line 145 you will find

"// This part is the logo and forum name.  You should be able to change this to whatever you want..."

this is the forum header and it can be edited in various ways

If you want to install a completely new theme you will find that when an update is released that you will have problems applying the update, and remodding the header is bad enough...

The easiest way to replace the image in the upper right corner is to rename the image you want there to smflogo.gif

Then upload that file to this folder: http://www.cableuk.tv/Themes/default/images/smflogo.gif
