Hi all,

I have installed zcommunity and everything looks fine except this little issue. while user clicks the blog, the following error comes
Quote
There appears to have been a problem with the database. Please try again.
If the problem persists, please contact the site's administrator.

I have given all the required permissions to the user, not really sure what went wrong. However, the user can see the admins blog though.

Have I missed to setup anything while installing? Kindly advice. Your help and suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.

Does anyone have a fix for the missing social networking icons, edit, delete, lock, etc icons (i gather this is supposed to be a dropdown menu ?!)?

Please don't just tell me to read the previous posts...I have and that isn't help ...and have read the posts on degreesofzero as well. People are just complaining about the problem or complaining that people are asking. Please just link a solution if one exists and I will thank you publicly. If you don't know don't bash me for asking please.

Hi,

This is a fantastic mod, probably the best mod i ever seen. i am so happy that i found it! I am going to try immediately. I have a few questions:

1. i read that 0.7.9 is the best version now for smf 1.1.8 (maybe for 1.1.9 too), is it right?

2. i read that a standalone zCommunity will be released, how is it? Was it already released somewhere?

3. Can it be integrated with Simple Portal 2.2.2? That means, i would like to display in Simple Portal the latest articles from all the blogs installed, is it possible?

4. or, is it possible to make the default page to the blogs page, so when user hits for example the main domain www.xyz.com, it will show the blogs page as default first HOME page?

so far, only 4 questions. Will have more for sure after. Thank you very very much!
All this best to this great mod!
I am using SMF 2.0.1, curve themes.

I can only answer the first question. Yes it works with 1.1.9 . :)

thank you, i hope someone can help to answer the other questions.

well...

1- already answered
2- It will be released when Charles says so. It is not released yet.
3- Of course it can and is possible...   that being said, there is nothing PRE-designed to fill SP blocks...   You would have to write the code yourself.
4- That too would require some modification to have the community override SP.

Thank you very much for the answer, it is helpful, but the last one, i suppose just smf forum and zCommunity without SP portal, will it be possible to make blogs the default Home page instead of forums? thank you.

You could just have your domain point to the blogs url instead of the forum folder...

thank you. by default the home url is something like: www.xyz.com/index.php, but zC's url will be www.xyz.com/index.php?zc, that is not very nice for a default url.

no sh1t that's why i suggested to point your domain at it... so typing the url is unneccesary... or u could just reverse the home and blog button codes...

I have a humble request:

- Option to make blog-posts count towards members' post-count in the forum (important for forums that rely a lot on post-counts to unlock features)

This might be something that i perhaps could modify myself. It doesn't seem like such an advanced thing to do. Anyone know how i could do this?

Question: Does zC use SSI in a way that you can make a tooltip show the amount of users currently viewing the Blogs?

I'm running SMF 2.0 RC1 and installed the Zcommunity mod a few days ago and everything has been fine until today when a guest was viewing the blogs and I went to the "View Who's Online" link and recieved the following error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function zc_plugin_slot() in /home/content/a/u/c/myforum/html/zCommunity/Sources/Who.php on line 217

I have a similar problem with that latest version, 0.8.1. Whenever someone is viewing the blogs page, the Who's Online page is completely blank.

robin:

1st question...  actually, it's harder than you might think, because the zCommunity stores the blog posts in a completely different table and format. There are a number of places which would have to be modified in the mod and in the basic smf code

2nd question...    as already stated several dozen times. use 0.7.9.
