Nice Mod and easy to install (manually)
Some questions....

I installed it to a school's forum (in Greece) ... but i want to know if i can connect to a (safe) IRC server and to make our channel ONLY for us (forum's members) ... i mean that our channel must be "invissible" or password protected for others and our members shall not be able to connect to other channels within chatroom

Also, I noticed that there is no smiley ... is it possible to activate them?

So if you can please inform me about IRC servers to connect and how to make a protected channel

There should be smileys... It uses the forum smileys.
And for the protected channels, etc. You want an IRC guide to help you with that..

I made all the modifications manually ...
i don't know why the smilies not displayed.
Can you tell me please some irc servers to try them (some safe for students?)

Uhm, freenode should be fine.
VillageIRC is another good one.

I found a freenode irc link into a forum which can produce an html code to include it into your site.... I think its very simple... but it has "poor" graphic interface (no colors/no smilies)

On the other hand i tried to install another Mod with Ajax IRC ... but ... after my forum hanged up !!! So i canceled all the modifications and deleted all the SQL tables ... manually !!!

I cant understand why i cant install any Mod or Theme automatically .... ONLY manually i can do it.... (I have the latest SMF 2 RC1-1)

That sounds like a problem for the Smf 2 support board.
But to use freenode with this go to Admin>Configuration>Features and Options>IRC Chat.
Then set up your settings irc.freenode.com is the IRC server.
You can use any channel name you like.

Another problem with SMF is that it takes wrong backups (missing ` or ' into sql tables) but the most significant is that it hasn't a RESTORE option of database !!!! That's why i did all manually !!

I wrote irc.freenode.com but it doesn't work (like a looping to 127.0.0.1)
By the way smilies doesn't appear
