"How To Get Spam" - This a warning that will make you laugh!

Hi All,

First off, SMF is great and I enjoy running my Forum for the thousands who visit.

Spam is always an on and off problem - not from individuals posting, but from auto spammer programs that target Forums. It drives me and I am sure many other Forum Administrators crazy with frustration.

I thought I was well protected, but I received an auto-spam posting that made me laugh and I had to let the SMF community know about it.

It was from someone with the user "CocoChanels" from IP "94.142.128.140 " who simply asked a question. "Does anyone know where you can get , I hear it is great for on-line advertising"

I googled the and found a link to a Blog advertising a program that automatically seeks out Forums and automatically registers the user even with security. It then posts whatever you want in the forum.

How rediculous is this that someone auto-spams a Forum offering a program that automatically spams forums.

I recommend that everyone bans the user and the IP range. I won't mention the program here, but invite a Moderator to contact me so that I can send them the name and site. They can confirm my recommending the ban in another posting below.

I really hope this guy shoots himself in the foot with this.

I had the same post from the same IP by the same membername on June 28th.  The listed email was [email protected].  Have to laugh at this one.

I suggest everyone having bigger spammer problems to get to know this mod It works.
