Need help copying our site / forums.

Hello everyone.

I did not create this site, the person who helped me was from SMF forums however this was almost a year ago and now could use someone's guidance or help.

We have a forum/site set up at hxxp:silentreign.net/guild [nonactive]
I am creating a new faction of this guild in a game called "Aion."  I would essentially like to copy the entire site, forums included to hxxp:silentriegn.net/aion [nonactive]
As you can see some of the files have been copied already, however I don't know how to link the new site/forum to a new database.

We also need to have our version of SMF updated.

Is there someone that is willing to help with this request?
I would be willing to create an ftp / site account with sufficient rights to make this happen - someone with previous feedback would be optimal.

If no-one is willing to help us copy the forums, is there anyway someone could help us update them?
We're reluctant to follow the update instructions for fear of breaking something, as from what I have been informed there are tons of tweaks that have been made to our SMF.

Last time we did a version update, some stuff broke, but we had someone from these forums / one of our guild members help - they are no longer available.

Some of the tweaks that have been made include;
Numerous graphic and layout changes, functionality tweaks, format modifications, custom packages and the addition of tinyportal, with modifications to tiny portal as well.

i would suggest you download all the forum folder to your PC and upload to your new host.

when you have uploaded this to your new host search this forum for "repair_settings.php" and follow the instructions..

make sure you make a full backup of the database and then upload that to your new host too

If you need help with mods and some tweeks, send me a PM, I can probably do it for free or a linkback/paid if it requires a lot of time.  Or you could post in the help wanted board.

Nylian, is this issue resolved now?

If you just want to move the forum to a new folder within the same host, use repair_settings.php and make sure that the database information is correct. Then click on the Recommended values. Save the changes. That should restore your forum back to working order. Delete the repair_settings.php file once you are done.
