Ok, here it is. I want to re-install my SMF, but i want to have all my users and posts stay. Which files contain the users and posts?

there are no files that contain that

... If you just want clean files, delete everything but Settings.php and Setting_bak.php and upload everything in the install package except install.php, Settings.php, and Settings_bak,php and your forums should work fine & have fresh files

Yep, your users are stored in a database, not a file

Unknown is the one who knows everything around here. Even though you think everything is installed, I would still upload all the files again. I've seen some FTP programs that somehow skip some files.
