Great Mod I love it way better then the default search Works great!!

But as asked before is there a way make it the default search OR move it to the top someplace so users can see it better & use that instead of the default one??

That's what I did. I have copied the code in the area that I pasted mine. You might be able to get an idea for what to do.

Its from the "index.template.php"

// Otherwise they're a guest - this time ask them to either register or login - lazy bums...

echo '
</div>
</div>
<div id="news_section" class="titlebg2 clearfix"', empty($options['collapse_header']) ? '' : ' style="display: none;"', '>
<form method="get" class="floatright" action="http://www.google.com/search" target="_blank">
<img src="'.$settings['default_theme_url'].'/images/google.gif" alt="', $txt['galt'] ,'" width="61" height="24" align="middle" />
<input type="hidden" name="sitesearch" value="', str_replace("/index.php", "", $scripturl), '" />
<input type="text" name="q" size="27" maxlength="255" value="" /><input type="submit" name="submit" value="search" style="width: 9ex;" />
</form>';

// Show a random news item? (or you could pick one from

This isn't a solution but just an observation. When I run a search (for the word "test") on your form then on mine the web page addresses look like this:

http://www.google.com/search?sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.christianstogether.co.uk%2Fsmfforum&q=test

http://www.google.com/search?sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eulogia.co.uk%2Fhome&q=test&submit=search

The "&submit=search" is missing at the end of your address.I don't know what that means though?

smitch6

thanks for that i haven't a clue either maybe someone will come up with a solution
i have tried to delete and re-install it and no difference

Maybe you can give this a try.

In your "index.template.php" search for:

<input type="text" name="q" size="27" maxlength="255" value="" />

and add this after it.

<input type="submit" name="submit" value="search" style="width: 9ex;" />

If it works then please let me know.

Thanks
