question about permissions

I've made a few boards visible only to members who reach over 15 posts. They were public first, but for safety reasons, I decided to change permissions for a few boards.
I thought it was working fine, until I discovered that people who signed up BEFORE I changed those permissions, but have less than 15 posts, can still access those boards, while newbies can't.

That shouldn't be the case, right? I've checked the setting a few times, but I can't discover any bugs though.
Guests can't view those boards either, it's only about those people who signed up before the changes were made.
Is there a way to solve this? Any help is appreciated!

How exactly did you set the permissions, if you denied the post based group newbies access, then all newbies should be affected, regardless of when the signed up.

It's even more weird, I registered myself as a newbie, and I still have access to all boards, even the ones I restricted permissions to. When i'm a guest I can't view those boards, but as soon as I log in I can see them and even access them. I really don't get it. What am I doing wrong here?

View the profile of the account you created and check out the show permissions bit to see how they are getting access.

I've checked several accounts now, all can view the hidden boards. I've checked their membergroup and all are part of newbie AND undefined membergroup. Is that what's causing the problem?

twinklewitch

it was causing the problem. Weird though...what exactly is "undefined membergroup"? And why is everyone a part of it?

You mean "Ungrouped Members"?  That's not a bad thing... that just means they don't have any other PRIMARY group.
