Hey there all!

First off, please note that this script contains 150+ bad words that aren't for young eyes, so if you are sensitive to said words, don't open the script.

I know a few people have been asking why SMF doesn't come standard with a database of "bad words". Well, simple answer is: There's too many!

Anyways, I am starting a small mod that will solve this problem for you so that you don't have to spend countless hours inputting them all in manually. This script will input all "bad words" into your database into the word censor.

My hope is to get a version out for the more prolific languages as well, not just English.

Also, any feedback here can help too, but please don't post any "bad words" here ;D

This works for 2.0 RC3 only. I will work on updating one for 1.1.11 as well.

Ok, how do you deal with words like "cock"? It has at least four completely different meanings, only one of which is somewhat less than polite.

I was thinking of doing something similar with less features, but I never got around to it.
A couple of feature ideas.

Blank filter, so "insertrandomswearwordhere" will be " ".
Kerfuffling, or something. So, the F word will become "farg", etcetera.

Blank is a bad idea actually. Messes with other stuff that should be left alone.

Nice idea! I tried doing something like that on one of my more family based sites lol I changed all the swear words to animal names.

Thanks, it's not censoring anything at all...

Do you have word censor enabled? All it does is add censors to the database.

Words like 'retard' became leotard and bas***d became mustard.

One last thing, see if they are added into the settings table under censor_vulgar and censor_proper
