And she's loading slowly....anyone optimized the tables and emptied the error log (for the love of god do that through the database or you'll crash the server) recently? It slows down when you let those go for a long time...

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

Thank you Jade for your continued support and care for the project, I know you still care for it deeply.  Your actions are appreciated by me at least.

Sorry, I never saw this. Actually, we are looking after the OM. A couple of weeks ago, there were over 200 posts awaiting approval. I personally filtered out the spam, approved the relevant, and responded to all of the support requests via e-mail. I've never heard anything about optimizing the tables and/or clearing the error log, so I'll look into that. Thanks. :)

GOOD WORK!! :D That makes me happy :-*.

See, that's why I would have voted for you to be lead :D. You do the work, and you do it well :).

Yes, the OM usually slows down about every 2-3 months if its tables arent optimised. I'm not sure why....sometimes it's really bad and takes up to 4 minutes to load a page, and that seems to solve it so go figure lol. I used to optimise it every time I went to the dentist (once a month).

The error log, I tried to empty it once with just a page of errors, and even the whole thing through SMF and both times it crashed or almost crashed the server (put it out for a while). The only time it hasnt was when the table was truncated.... Though I think I recall Sleepy saying it crashed the server once that way too.... I'd be inclined to only allow database and critical errors if any unless someone will fix the theme (it's a 1.1 theme on 2.0....).

I do not know why this thread was deleted.
I have restored it here in case the reason for the delete was some crap about public comments and all that...   but Jade raises an excellent point.

I wasnt trying to start any trouble, I was genuinely worried.

I don't know why it was deleted or who did it, but I'd like to know the why at least :).

I don't remember being told that about the table optimization thing.  I will go tweak some settings on the OM to try and prevent that.

SleePy has since found the problem and fixed it. :) It was actually in the code.

What the errors or the optimising? What was it?

The errors. There was an undefined index that was generating 10+ errors each page load. I think he said there were a quarter million errors in the log. :o

LOL I think I saw either 1 or 3 million when I first joined. I was flabbergasted.. I can't remember which one, I want to say three but I clearly remember ******ing twice about a million so it's probably a safer bet ;).

Wow 10+ errors per page load, and it was only picked up and fixed now?  You think a server admin would have picked up the huge SQL db it would have been generating.

Rumbaar,
That is all my fault that things where not noticed.  I updated the theme to SMF 2.0 and changed a lot of the underlying code to optimize it.  I have to check why that undefined variable occurred as it should of always been set.  It was my bad anyways, my bad code and my bad for not checking the error log after I made the theme live.

Jade, it is backed up :)

Ah fair enough, I would have thought dschwab9 would have picked up the large size of the db and/or affect on storage. So I wouldn't put all of the blame on yourself.
