Went to do the upgrade on the test forum and had this error.

Are you trying to upgrade through the package manager?

is lost

Would one reason be due to the test forum not being live?

ie my eyes only.

Kill Em All

You have to be using the large upgrade package.

KEA

That's the package I am using.

Arantor

And you can't use the large upgrade through the package manager, it's not a mod-type package.

Though it shouldn't be generating an error like that.
Holder of controversial views, all of which my own.

Arantor

Given how much has changed since RC2, it would actually be more of a problem to install as a mod.

As said, you can't upgrade through package manager. I'm not sure what package are you using there, since you shouldn't be able to apply the large upgrade package... (a screenshot of your Packages page may help).

However, to upgrade to RC3: please check out: Upgrading SMF
Short story: make a backup, please, of your database, download the large upgrade package, unzip and upload all files overwriting your files, then run upgrade.php from the browser.
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.
