Mibbet chat or any other irc client

Hello there, I have set up a site for a clan for an on line game in January 2010. And with the help of these forums I have done very well but am stumped at present.

I am using version SMF 2.0 RC3. (just upgraded)

I require to do three things - they are all related:
1. Set up "IRC" navigation button.
2. As a result a new page will need to be created.
3. On that page I want to run Mibbet. (I heard that it pretty good for the IRC) If anyone has any other suggestions I am open.

I have seen mods for these but they seem quite separate. One mod will install a nav button but does not explain how a page is created to link to that button and then how Mibbet connects to the page.

It may be worth noting that I had this running on the previous version but lost it all when upgraded. Is it retrievable? My contact who set it up is overseas on holidays for a month and I really can't wait for him to return. Plus I want to learn this stuff for myself.
