The first errors were not from Settings.php, but they where caused by incomplete fileuploads due to the Filezilla bug.

Your forumsettings were corrected by running repair_settings.php. These settings needed to be corrected for the upgrade to work.

The file Settings.php also could have been corrupted due to the Filezilla bug. It has to be. There is no replacement of Settings.php in the upgradepackage so, unless inclompete, the upgrade should work with an 'older' version of it.

Anyway, glad you got it working  :)

I could never ever imagine Settings.php throwing you out those message. Settings.php has really minimal changes since SMF is up.

Glad its working, maybe something just went sour in it.

I am going to mark the topic solved, please feel free to unmark it solved if you have further questions. :)

Thanks again all for your help.

Going from 1.1RC2 to 2 RC3 I was expecting a multitude of changes - the site looks smoother and the admin panel is much nicer but its a shame not to see a much greater use of AJAX within the interface.

Ok, rant over...I've managed to get it working now by downloading a fresh install of the SMF upgrade package, frustrating though as I will have to redo my theme amendments that I had been working on offline.

The point being, it would be lovely if this great product reported some technical information whilst upgrading/installing to state exactly what it needs.

Anyway...hopefully all is well now, severe frustration and anger over :D
