I'm going to start building a web site for my airsoft team, and possibly one for gaming/tech discussion, and was wondering if I should use the current stable version or go ahead and use RC3?

If I chose to use RC3, will there be an upgrade to the gold/stable release from RC3?

That link should help.

You'll probably have to go through a large upgrade from the RC's to Gold.

As I've mentioned in many similar topics, it all depends on how much risk you can accept. While SMF RCs are much more stable than similar products, there might still be bugs in them. Also, code is likely to change. If you can accept being on the bleeding edge, then using the development release might be fine for you.

Yes, but it will be a manual procedure. Package manager-style updates don't get released until the branch is declared stable.

There are a few quirks in RC3 but IMO nothing to worry about. It's certainly a great version to use.

SMF 2.0 is much more better than the 1.1.x versions.
