can you verify that in the {yourdatabaseprefixhere}_membergroups table that Administrator is the 1 group and Global Moderators is the 2 group? can you also verify that your global mods are set to group 2 in {yourdatabaseprefixhere}_members table?

okay,
"***_membergroups" table has the following:
1    Administrator
2    Global Moderator
3    Moderator

"***_members" table, not 100% sure what you meant here, but the members I have in the Global Moderators group, are listed as ID group 2.  So that seems correct to me.  For giggles, I also check the admin username, and it was listed as ID group 1.

can you try to duplicate this with a fresh install on your same server?

Right now I would rather just deal with the work around I made than chance having 2 forums running.  Sorry.

It's obvious your issue is not a common one. The suggestion of Illori is a good one, to determine whether a mod or your database is causing that. Other than that, we're all running out of options I think.

So, if you're not willing to follow Illori's suggestion to get to the bottom of this, and your satisfied with your work around, please mark this topic as solved. ;)

I'm just settting up a test forum, have no moderators yet just myself as administrator.  I've not been receiving any emails from people awaiting activation and searched on "email" in the SMF forums today trying to find out how to do that.  I also don't want members adding themselves w/o approval as our members will need to be part of a dues-paying non-profit group.  Perhaps the problem is more widespread than is immediately apparent(?)

"A new member has joined" in the file /Themes/default/languages/Login.english.php. We recently came across a similar issue where this sentence was blocked as an anti spam measurement.
