Does SMF 2.0 RC4 (or later) bridge with *any* CMS?

Switched my forum over to SMF 2.0 months ago, as soon as it became available, and never looked back.  Great job guys.

Now I'm thinking about converting my main site to a content management site.  I've got options at this point, and have examined joomla, mambo, and drupal.

After checking these out at some length, one at a time, I feel like the guy in the Monte Python Cheese Shop sketch, where there turns out to be no cheese at all, of any kind.

Like the guy in the sketch, I am gradually coming to the conclusion that there are no supported, or even workable  bridges to SMF 2.0 at all.  Of if there are, they are very runny indeed and the cat just ate it.

Someone tell me I'm wrong....

Or if I'm right, then I can run un-bridged for a while, until SMF 2.0 is released and some bridge action kicks in.  Which CMS is most likely to be supported the soonest?  Sadly, joomla, appears to be off the table.
???
TIA.

we have been focused on getting 2.0 actual out....   and yes, the bridge integrations have lagged in the mean time.

So, you are correct, there are no fully tested bridges for 2.0RC4 (which means that most of the existing bridges are probably buggy, since a fair amount has changed in smf code since they were written)

Once 2.0 final is out, we will have one (or more) of the developers focus on the bridges/integrations, especially since we've added a fair number of integration routines/hooks into the smf code which should make bridging much cleaner.

I'll just pick something to use unbridged then - looks like drupal or mambo are the most popular among the bridge-worthy CMS's, and wait.

That, or start hacking php.  Maybe I can contribute something.  Is there a document on the integration hooks? Which CMS would you recommend as the closest to working and/ or easiest to implement a bridge for?

Again, love SMF 2.0.  You guys should be proud of a great job.

well, we have a wiki page on the integration hooks, but, as it turns out, that content was written for the RC2/RC3 version and is not necessarily appropriate for the RC4 version of the integration functions.

I will slap one of the devs upside the head to update the wiki.

Been looking around some more and stumbled on SimplePortal.  This may actually do what I want, which is to liven up my main web page a bit by integrating it with my SMF forum.

Now, if I can just find the "wiki" for SimplePortal.  Ever try to us bug lists as documentation?  That's what I'm trying to do now.

Thanks for your help, BTW - SMF rocks!

If you are looking just for a simple but powerful portal to add contne to smf, I would seriously consider using tinyportal, by Bloc and his team. The package is here on simplemachines.org and they have done a remarkable job of keeping up with the different versions of smf, and overall the implementation is remarkably clean. Over the years the feature set has grown, and those who jump into it right now without being used to the interface might be a little daunted, but it should become easy to use quickly.

As far as e cms systems go though, TP has proven to be both very efficient, and very powerful. Even on websites with users in the thousands and rich dynamic content, I have yet to have a problem in somewhere around 8 years.

Wi that said, there are a bundle of cms options for smf, the ones for 2.0 are coming along, but you've made the right first choice in sticking with smf as a core, building upon it is a great way forward.

Thanks, Arkanthos.

I'm intrigued by TP.  Would be interested in a feature matrix of the various portals, particularly SP vs TP, if you know of one.

I use ezportal on on one site and Simple portal on another. I like ezportal better. More flexible.
