Hi there.

I was hoping one of your fine folks could help me with a conversion problem I'm facing.

I'm trying to convert from IPB 2.2.2 to SMF.  I'm using a mysql database that is about 600MB is size, which was recently converted from being a ms-sql database (but it still works with IPB just fine).  I am using WAMP on a quadcore system with 8GB of ram and plenty of free solid-state drive space.  I am doing everything locally on this system, so no internet-related problems are possible.

Anyways, when trying to convert from IPB 2.2.x to SMF 2.0 RC4 using the tools provided from the download section, I get the following error the moment I start the process:
Quote
Converting...
Converting members...Wrong value type sent to the database. Integer expected. (hide_email)

So I then downloaded SMF 1.1.12 instead, created a new database, and tried  the IPB 2.2.x to SMF 1.1.12 converter and things seemed to be doing something.  12% of my CPU was being used for about 30 minutes, while my browser continued to think, but after 30 minutes I got this following message:

QuoteConverting...
..........................................................
Converting members... Successful.
Converting categories... Successful.
Converting boards... Successful.
Converting topics...

CPU usage was now 0% and the browser was idle.

I also tried using the IPB 2.3.x converter to SMF 1.1.12 and ran into the same problem as above.

Looking at the IPB 1.1.12 site, I see that the users were imported in just fine, but none of the topics or posts.  So at least it is partially working with the  SMF 1.1.12 converter.

I thought that maybe this was a timeout problem, so I increased the cache and timeout limits in both the sql my.ini file and the php.ini file, then reset the server; but I still had the same problem.

I also used both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer; both acted the same for the process.

I checked and searched the forums, but couldn't find a similar problem.  The fact I'm not getting any error message, rather lack there of, has me wondering if I overlooked some timeout limit setting.  How can I resolve this problem?

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

regards,
steve

do you have javascript enabled in your browser settings? the converter stops sometimes to avoid overloading the server and should continue automatically after a few seconds..

Thanks, but I've double checked my browser settings on both IE and Chrome -- both say javascript is enabled; I do not have any addon installed to prevent scripts from running either.

IF the server is timing out, it after less than an hour, but more than half an hour.

I've let it run for an hour after it seemed to stop running (0 cpu usage, idle browser page), yet it does not seem to start up again.
