[Free] Steam profile

Description:
I want some kinda steam profile thing, were people verify a VALID steam profile (SteamID, username, etc..), during registration which I want required to through registration. Then if possible, make it show up on there profile, with there steam banner show there profile offline or online, also a little icon on there posting information, you know what I mean >_>. Also try to make it so only one user can have that steam profile and not more then one.

Permissions: Admin only please.

Feature Set:
I would like it if there was some options were I make it required and not required. Also some options on were I want people to enter it, like,
Option 1: Registration only
Option 2: Profile only
Option 3: Both


PS: I know there is a mod like this, but not at this version. Plus I need this to prevent from having bots spamming my forum. :S

Well, the vast bulk of this can be done through custom profile fields, the only thing it can't do out of the box is the ability to expressly check that it's a valid Steam ID, and the only way to do that is to get into dealing with the Steam API which is complex and messy.

Well don't really matter if its gonna have to be vaild. Not to crazy about it. Forget what I said about that.

In which case you can use the custom profile fields to do it, to specify the field, to present it wherever it should be and to wrap a mask around the content to include the image.

There was a thread in Tips & Tricks that explained the process for Facebook; it's basically the same for Steam.

It doesn't require code knowledge, just follow the instruction. You will need a steam image of 16x16 somewhere.

I tried to do it before. Plus how will I make it were they put there steamid username etc... during registration and my admin controls?

If you look in the custom fields area, you can make that appear during registration.

Truth is, you seem too lazy to even use the built in functions that will do the vast majority of it for you.

Anyways, I don't have a computer to make this. I just use my PS3.

you dont need a computer to enter values in the admin panel, you have a keyboard right?

ATM, I have a Ipad and a PS3 to use, and one thing, I can't do the tutorial, because its on RC2 & RC3 only. I run a RC4 forum. So I can't do it.

most likely if you looked at the code it is almost the same in RC4 as in RC3, majority of mods made for RC3 can be installed on RC4 and RC5 with little to no changes.

It's really simple to do this without a mod. This will only work on SMF 2.0 RC2 and RC3
Go to Admin> Features and Options> Profile Field> New Field

go to admin -> core features and enable the advanced profile fields then try again.
