Am I blind. I can not find the RSS feeds option in the Admin Panel. I was in the Featues and Options menu where it should be.

Only works in IE.

I hate to rehash old stuff, especially if it's been resolved, but I've been getting the same error- using Firefox and Safari on OS X. So, if a fix has been suggested, I admit I missed it, and I'm sorry. At this point, I'm getting a 500 error sporatically, no real rhyme or reason. A check of my error logs simply shows that there's no "favicon.ico", which I can't see affecting SMF. I've never bothered with adding my own logo for the address bar, and I've not had this problem before.

Just upgraded to 1.1 beta 3. When logging in, error 500. Nothing in the error logs, and where it's trying to get, if that means anything:

I installed the upgrade and everything went fine. Had it up for a while, added posts, logged in and out without any problems. I shut down my browser when I went to lunch. Came back and I could get to the main page for the forums, but whenever I tried to log in or click on a particular board, I got a generic 500 Internal Server Error message. I re-uploaded the upgrade pieces, ran the upgrade again, and now it seems to be working again. Seen this before? Is there more info I can provide to help?

So myself and a couple of other users seem to be using the board now with little problems. I'm still getting scattered reports from other users who say they are still unable to access the boards - they get the same generic 500 error message. My error logs from today don't show any errors. So I really don't understand what's going on. If I reverted SMF back to the last stable version, I should retain all the posts made since the upgrade, right? Is reverting back trickier than it sounds?

Woohoo, finally it's out! I was thinking of maybe migrating back to phpBB for new features. This sounds a whole lot better now.

redone

I don't think you should ever have to go "back" to phpBB.  ;D

What is phpBB? ;D

Hmm, I'll have to look that one up........

Is this a bug in Beta 3? A lot of my images like Replied To and Online and Smilies are all inverted boxes now.

Owdy

What do you mean? Did you update themes also?

I have an integration of SMF and PHP Nuke 7.6.  Here is the link to show what slight changes I needed to make SMF play nice as a PHP Nuke 7.6 module:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=38435.0

I upgraded it to SMF 1.1 beta3 Public and I found one small issue.......

In the Labels Management, I cannot delete a Label.  When I select a Label to delete and click on the button, I get an error page saying "Sorry, this file does not exist..." which is a PHP Nuke error code.  In the browser it shows:

modules.php?name=Forums&action=pm;sa=manlabels;sesc=c320521c583664ef376809968f3a7199

I have looked and experimented, but I cannot seem to get it to work.  Is there something I can add to the code to remove that sessions type code?

thanks.....

I am now back on the basic YaBB theme until I find a good 1.1 Theme. I also had some incorrect smilies.

I can't find the option to enable spell checking. I saw it in 1.0.5 and it's gone in 1.1

As far as I know, this hasn't yet been resolved. I was getting the same error message about favicon.ico. I even went and created a favicon.ico. I no longer get that written to my error log, but it hasn't fixed the SMF issue either. I've posted some tips for users to work around the issue. Usually hitting 'back' and then refreshing the main index page clears up the issue.

Yay! The whole Apache/500 problem is fixed, thanks to SMF's own [Unknown].

Turn out that while I was searching for every possible combination of things like login, 500 error, and other descriptors; the actual problem is explained here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=34270.msg253872#msg253872

I created the file and everything's running smoothly. Just wished someone could have pointed me to it sooner, since I had no clue what was causing it or how to describe the situation-- rendering my search strings moot.

Thanks also to adamspt2, who has endured the same problem and has helped me troubleshoot my installation as well as his own. Great community!

Summary of problems thus far:

Incorrect PM count - fixed by the patch someone posted earlier in the thread. THANKS! (actually, in retrospect it didn't fix it. I get four pages of errors whenever I enter the private message section).

Unable to enter admin mode without logging out and in - I see other people have this problem. I worked around it by disabling admin security, but that's a horrid solution, and I would like someone to point me to a proper fix.

Unable to make a new theme - still a very troubling one. Here's the error from the log:

http://www.crimsoneternity.com/yabbse/index.php?action=theme;sa=install
8: Undefined index: error
File: /home/sites/site12/web/yabbse/Sources/Themes.php
Line: 964

Users report that the Preview Post function does not work using Internet Explorer.

I have 1108 pages of error logs; almost all of them were generated by lines 430 and 432 in PersonalMessage.template.php.

Should I try deleting the whole default theme dir and uploading it from the full install archive?

Perhaps, but make a backup first.  Always make backups.

Well, that didn't work. :) However I'm still not sure exactly where I am to be looking for Select the restrictions for this board. These restrictions do not apply to moderators and administrators. It's certainly not on the modify board page (where you change descriptions and such).

I've found and fixed the problem for the next release.  It shouldn't cause you too many problems in the mean time.

Now, is there any word on the Admin log-in problem?  :)

If it hasn't already been resolved, can you start a new topic?

Sorry, this topic fell off my radar.  For anyone still getting this, please see:

Critical problem in authorization system

The user has no right to delete any answer.

When he uses "View the most recent posts on the forum." he can delete all answers to his self opened themes. Within the theme he can't, only in the list of "View the most recent posts on the forum."

Thats a really critical problem!!

This was fixed, but it has only a very limited effect; they must be the topic starter and the topic must be on the recent posts list.  The next release will fix this - but there is a reason we ask you not to use beta versions in production if you're not sure you're comfortable with it.

You don't want to, it's for security.  But, that's not causing it or you wouldn't be able to log out.  It must be the post data - save, delete, or something...

What version of PHP is this?  It sounds like you didn't update a lot of your files.  Go to Admin and click (more detailed) next to the version number.
