Hey people,
I have two specific questions regarding a reinstall with backuped data.

1.) I backed up all tables from my 1.1.12 installation with MySQlDumper, deleted all smf_tables, renamed the files directory -- so to keep everything as a backup. I then installed SMF 1.1.13 freshly and restored all smf_ prefix tables. Is there any more need to perform specific SQL tasks, i.e. should the 1.1.13 update have made any changes to the SQL tables? If so, how can I perform it now? Simply uploading and executing the 1.1.12 to 1.1.13 update?

2.) When I try to install a German informal UTF-8 language pack for 1.1.13, I get the message "Sorry, the copyright must be in the template.
Please notify this forum's administrator that this site is missing the copyright message for SMF so they can rectify the situation. Display of copyright is a legal requirement. For more information on this please visit the Simple Machines website.
Not sure why this message is appearing? Take a look at some common causes."

The link to "common causes" doesn't work. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Best, Martin

how are you going about installing the language files?

if you download the large upgrade package, and upload the upgrade.php file as well as the .sql files you can use that to perform the database upgrade.

Thanks for the quick answer!
1.) Did the upgrade and it worked. Thanks.

2.) Re language files: well, I downloaded the 1.1.13 packs, extracted the zip, uploaded it with FileZilla and the selected it under Configuration --> Server Settings --> Default Forum Language. When I clicke "save" there, I get the quoted error. Also, the translation is not complete. Is the 1.1.13 language pack only an upate? Do I need some base German pack?

Did I forget anything? I have no customized theme, but use the "Default" one...

Thanks for more ideas in advance,
Herg

Hi, if this is still an issue, I'd suggest you try to download a new pack and reupload the files to your forum. Just to make sure they weren't broken at some point between SM.org and your server.
If it still does that then, it could be the language pack actually has a problem in it that the team will need to have a look at.

Hello Lex and all,
sry - had my mind on other things and only tackeled this again now.

- redwoanloaded all packages needed
- reuploaded all SMF 1.3 files
- reuploaded all SMF 1.3 German UTF-8 and German informal UTF-8 files (overwriting everything)
- performed install again

Result: The forum works with German UTF-8, but not with German informal UTF-8. My hypothesis therefore is, that there is no general issue, but a specific one with the German informal UTF-8 package.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Herg

Took a look at them. And guess what I found? ;)

There indeed is something fishy with the 1.1 German informal package.
I fixed in the internal tool we have for language packs, but it will need to be updated on the downloads too.

Thanks Lex!
Quick question: the download section only hosts German Informal files for SMF 2.0 now (http://download.simplemachines.org/?smflanguages;lang=german_informal). Can I find the bugfixed 1.1 ones anywhere?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Lex,

tried all four reference packs:
- none displays the copyright error - good!
- the standard ones (non-UTF) maldisplay certain characters (naturallly, since my database is UTF-8)
- both "informal" packages seem to be incomplete, i.e. most of the text is still in English, not German

Current status: still using German UTF-8, not the informal one.

Thanks for further thinking. Maybe a 2.0 upgrade would be the best anyways?!

Most probably work on translations has concentrated on 2.0, I don't know the stats without checking (and can't right now) though...
