I just installed this from my host's Fantastico section, and I'm getting this illegal notice. How can I fix this?

Did you edit any of the SMF files recently?

Try re-uploading the Themes directory using fpt.

I don't think so. I'll try the FTP theme upload asap.

I did that, too.

No luck.

What is the copyright file, and where does it need to be? Is it a permissions problem?

xenovanis

No, no permission problem. The copyright is in index.template.php of your theme and in the languagefiles.

Is it supposed to show no boards?

What version are you running? You can check that in your Admin Panel, there is a little box on the right with the version information. Download the upgradepackage matching your version from the download page, unzip it and upload it to your forumlocation. Does that help?

It really looks like mismatched language files.

THank you, but I don't know how to correct that. I need more help? Please? If mismached language files, how do I fix? DO I need to put in new language files, or new other files?

thanks in advance!

try downloading smf here and re-upload ALL language files to your server though ftp that match the version of SMF you are running.

Maybe i'm missing something. Are there more language files than the ones in the Themes/default/languages and the Themes/classic/languages directories? Because I uploaded all the language files form a new download of SMF 1.0.5, and still get the notice. Is there a specific file that carries the copyright?

You really should consider just scrapping the Fantastico installation and installing it with the download provided on this website.  No reason to fret over your host's mistakes... you can have it up in under 10 minutes... fire off a complaint to your host while waiting for the upload.

i agree....partially.

Contact your host, politely explain the problem regarding the fantastico installation. Chances are this is an error on thier part, so im sure they will help you out.
The only thing php can't do is tell you how much milk is left in the fridge.

I'm on it. Thanks for the advice. Can I install the app without losing all the posts in the current forum?

xenovanis

Yes. During installation point it at your database and it will use the data from there.

Everything looks good. Except, that my server won't let me add or modify boards now. I ran into this a while back, and didn't know what caused it. THere's an IDFix mod that I applied back then, and again now. It killed my copyright notice.

:'(

I've found that when adding only the modified files in the Themes DIR, rather than the ones in the modified Sources DIR, it all works again. I've sent a note to the mod author, too.

Thanks for all your help, folks.
