Can someone help me.

I just had the following message, are variations of, with large parts of my forum. The forum has started functioning again by itself. - What does it mean?

QuoteGot error 28 from storage engine
File: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/community/Sources/BoardIndex.php
Line: 82

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum files are currently at version SMF 1.0.5, whereas your database is at version SMF 1.0.2. It is recommended that you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

The forum was installed only a few days ago, and I'm due to go live in the next couple of hours (I have members waiting). - I could do with knowing what's happing.

Thanks.

it may just be from a reboot of mysql, or a crash. Im not sure.
The only thing php can't do is tell you how much milk is left in the fridge.

Error 28 means no space on device.

Ask your host to fix it, they are the only ones who can.

You can ignore the

It's happening again, but now I get the following:

QuoteDuplicate entry '1' for key 1
File: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/community/Sources/ManagePermissions.php
Line: 117

What does that indicate?

Thanks.

Sorry, I just like to know what the problem is, and not just rely on someone fixing it.

Thanks again.

More than likelty it's caused by the same thing, lack of space for MySQL to work with.

After the space issue is resolved, I suggest you REPAIR all of your tables.

Unknown, do you mean from the forums' 'Edit Features and Opions' checkbox; or the option to repair the database from the control panel; or is there some other option because you said "I suggest you REPAIR all of your tables". I have no knowledge of mysql, and it's all seat of my pants webmastering. :D

demon1975

Mine did the same thing but for some reason it seems to have recovered with no problem sense....well except my permissions page doesn't work now lol, but as far as MySql, i wouldn't suggest screwin with it if ya don't know much aout it, i made that mistake yesterday :)

the option to repair the database from the control panel

That's the one you want, but *don't do it* until you are *sure* the storage space issue is completely resolved.

Thanks. It appears to be, they've told me it "should be", but they said that earlier. I've asked them to confirm, and why I need confirmation. - I assume this because if the server falls over during repair, the database could go completely belly-up? I have a back-up, but still.

Thanks again.

[Unknown]

Well, it could be bad, yes.  Backups are good - it's a good thing you've made one ;).

The games mod appears to be working, in the main ( a small bug or two), but these errors are being created when games are not being acessed (the errors are from the profile logs). I also have some odd behaviour with access rights. I seem to be able to get it work as I want for one post dependent group, but not for another. My fellew admin is finding the same, and we cannot explain it. Could these things be the result of the DB being messed up?

Thanks.

I have the same error it leads to the arcade mod.

Col

Yeah, Thanks,

I've already posted to the Arcade thread. The arcade mod is a bit of a mess at the moment.
