MKportal help with Calendar.

I am trying to get upcoming events to display in a block on my mkPortal site, I am not having much luck on my own, so I thought I would ask for help. I have searched all over mkp's website and searched through  this site, but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for. I know next to zero scripting/coding. using SMF1.0.5 and mkp latest stable release.

any help would be appreciated.

I'm brand new to MKPortal, but I haven't found any functionality in the calendar beyond displaying the date. Am I wrong?
