In 2.0 version. this:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1523

Cannot install it on my own due to other mods getting in the way, and not being in our version. I just need to hire someone to do it up for us. thank you!!

Which mod would suit your needs better, notwithstanding compatible versions, the one you linked to above, or http://livemods.net/index.php?action=mods#48 ?

wynnyelle

Wow, I like this other mod you linked! Our default right now is, obviously, no stoppage of doubles at all but we actually DO only want to use this on one single board right now--our events board. Players double post repeatedly to cheat the events, which require a post minimum to completion. Merging them would prevent this. And yet I didn't want to have to set up a whole new permission set for it, since permissions outside of the default permissions are already not compatible with all of our other custom features and mods.

Would this one be a fairly easy install? Again--we have too much custom work to install anything without a hitch anymore.

It's 2.0-ready. The bulk of its edits are to modify the posting behavior. It makes one edit to the display template, to inject the button to manually merge double posts.

I do not want to say this out loud but I will risk it please everybody promise not to yell...I am still on RC 3.

live627

Actually, the mod was developed on RC3, and IIRC the code it relies on hasn't really changed since then.

wynnyelle

Oh! Really? So I can probably install this, though nothing ever installs right anymore for me, that's why I need to hire someone to do it.

Arantor

I'd be more surprised if you couldn't install it, it was originally written to be as clean and unintrusive as possible.

Well , I'm even afraid to try. I've crashed the site with this stuff.

I'm currently seeking someone with PHP certification to do heavy work on my site. My inquiries and forays into finding someone willing to do the work for me have dragged on for months. I'm willing to pay well over $1000 for custom work and yet nobody is biting yet.

Anyone, please, shoot me a PM if interested. I need this work done within a couple more weeks. Been searching for MONTHS. At the end of my rope and tired of twiddling my thumbs while our site continues to suffer under lacking conditions.

Something like the Zend cert? I find a major code difference there. The ZCE seems to focus on new coding standards such as classes and namespaces from what I have seen. SMF has none of that. SMF is 99% procedural. It has maybe two half-assed class implementations, which are barely even used.

Arantor

As I discussed elsewhere, SMF is built using PHP 4.x technologies, while the ZCE focuses very heavily on PHP 5.x+ and quite a bit on PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.3 specifically. Someone who is Zend certified is not really a good fit for this task (speaking as someone who has taken Zend exam material)

I see...Thank you for responding to this too and helping me out. I have so much that I need done and some of it's been waiting on the table for most of a year.

That's great! I will PM you everything. Just need to go eat something, I will be back. Thank you!

Two thumbs up for Live627! He installed it and troubleshot around tricky custom edits. Works like perfect!
