I have a shout-box setup as block in the header....
I have simple portal set to "integration"

But nothing is showing up :(
I don't want an individual portal page, as I have a webpage built custom for an index page.
Any tips are hugely appreciated.

Click the little icon of a wrench to edit the shoutbox block.
Then specify where you would like the shoutbox to show up.
Also, check the permissions for the block -- to make sure you are permitting people to view the block.

Great mod! It can be used as my fully homepage! Thanks :)

But I have an uncommon problem. Sometimes, though I was logged in to forum, but it doesn't logged in to Simple Portal, and still showing the login box. Help?

Pokeman:
This sounds like a cookie problem.

Do you use standalone portal?
Is it in a different sub-domain?

* Please go to: Administration Center » Server Settings » Cookies and Sessions
* Make sure the box for "local storage of cookies cookies" is unset
* Make sure the box for "subdomain independent cookies" is set

That usually fixes the problem.
Does that work?

Question about Simpleportal's shoutbox:

When I do a refresh through the refresh button or an auto refresh, only the shoutbox messages are refreshed through AJAX, this is great.

However, when I enter and send a message the whole portal page gets refreshed. Is this normal behaviour?

When you enter a shout and press the "Shout!" button, only the shoutbox should be refreshed.
If this is NOT what you observe, something is not working properly with your "Shout!" button.

That button should have the javascript sp_submit_shout(...,...,...) attached to the onclick event, which should kick off some AJAX stuff.

Nope... at least not with auto shout OFF... when I type something new in... it only updates the shoutbox...not the whole page.

Angelina Belle

Auto shout? Are you referring to auto refresh = 0?

Can you make sure that the account you provided for testing has the necessary permissions to access the shoutbox? (blocks and shoutboxes has different permissions, so you need to set both for blocks that display shoutboxes)

Another queston, how to justified the article text? Though I use css (.post) and html (<p align="justify") near the $article['message']['body'] (Themes/default/PortalArticles.template.php), but it doesn't working. Maybe the code is in wrong places?

Sure, I updated the profile to have permissions.

Shoutbox JavaScript functions use smf_editorArray variable to determine the version of SMF. That variable is defined at the beginning of script.js file in SMF. Your theme seems to write extra html headers before including the default SMF js files. Moving the <script> tag that includes script.js file before html headers variable in index.template.php file should fix the problem.

Pokemon -- it would help to be able to look at the HTML.
I recommend to you Firefox with the firebug extensions, or IE9, which comes with the "F12" developer's tools, to help you explore your HTML and CSS.

Hi.. [SiNaN] Long time no see! ^^ :)
How are you?
I like your portal very much.
-- I love SMF --

[SiNaN]

Indeed. I'm still alive, which I'm grateful for. It's good to see that you're still using SimplePortal. You should be able to see how fast and well it evolved since the earlier versions, with this great team we have, better than a lot of others.
