Hi,

I've just installed a new language to my forum. I've got a message that the installation was successful but when I clicked on a link within the forum, I've got a 500 Internal Server Error

Error Page:
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.

End of error message

Now I can't access the forum at all... The forum address is http://www.creptoforex.com/Forum [nofollow]

Appreciate your help....

Hi,

Thanks for your help...

Not sure that I understood you correctly (I am very new to this) :)

I found many .htaccess files and not sure which one I have to rename...

and what di I have to do after renaming it?

Thanks again

Orangine

What do you mean by 'many'? there cannot be more than one file with the same name. I'm talking about the one in your forum folder. Most likely it's the .htacess file that's causing the Error 500. If you rename is and the problem stops - you know that was it.

There is no .htaccess file in the main forum folder. However, there is .htaccess file in almost every sub folder (i.e. attachments, cache, Packages, etc)

And the odds are it is not any of those whatsoever.

What language did you try to install?

OK, so in the Themes/default/languages folder, you should find a collection of files with the filenames ending in .arabic-utf8.php and .english.php - check that for every single .english.php file, there is a corresponding .arabic-utf8.php file, e.g. there will be Admin.english.php, check there is an Admin.arabic-utf8.php file and so on for every .english.php file.

Ok...I confirm that for every .english.php file, there is a .arabic-utf8.php

The only single file in that folder is index.php

Arantor

That's fine, that's as it is supposed to be.

That's covered the main symptom at least, next step is to go into your host's cpanel and find the error log. In there it should tell you what the error is.

OK I've looked at the logs but there was no indication for error... Logs were mainly traffic related (google spiders I assume)

If I could know the php file responsible for loading the languages and disable the script?

Not sure if this is possible but I am trying my best :)

Arantor

That means it may not have been the error log. Might be worth checking with your host.

(The thing is, there's several places where language loading will be the issue.)

OK... I contacted the web hosting provider and they said that the issue was related to the forum folder permission setting. They've changed it and things worked out again...

Many thanks for your help...
