I just installed the bridge and went through the combined readme. When I click on my forum link I get the following error.

QuoteWarning: main(/index.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sfboarde/public_html/sfaloha/components/com_smf/smf.php on line 35

Warning: main(/index.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sfboarde/public_html/sfaloha/components/com_smf/smf.php on line 35

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'http://www.sfaloha.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=32&/index.php'http://www.sfaloha.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=32&; (include_path='http://www.sfaloha.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=32&.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php'http://www.sfaloha.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=32&) in /home/sfboarde/public_html/sfaloha/components/com_smf/smf.php on line 35

Here is line 35 of that file

require ($smf_path . '/index.php');

so do I need to change it to the following below? 'forum' is the directory where smf is installed.
require ($smf_path . 'forum/index.php');

I edited the file and tried to overwrite the file, chmod and rename it but for some reason my server is coming up with permission denied. It appears that Mambo has locked this file.  Any help is greatly apprecated. :)

Check your Mambo admin -> Components -> SMF Forum and see if the path to SMF is the same as the one you will find in SMF Admin -> Server Settings -> SMF Directory.

Even if it seems correct, make sure to save the component at least once. Sometimes components or modules won't work well if they aren't saved at least once.

Thanks xenovanis that worked. Is their a reason why I am getting Permission Denied errors in some of the Mambo folders and files? Is their a way to unlock that?

Unfortunately, Mambo takes over permissions during install. You can try to use the MamboXplorer Component to correct the permissions.

You can also try to regain permissions via Mambo's backend -> Site -> Global Configuration -> Server:

-> CHMOD new files and directories to 777

-> Apply to existing files
