How easy is it to change where my forum is located within my directory?

I set up my forum as the main directory for my domain.  The problem is that now I want to set up a CMS and bridge my forum to it.  Can I just move my forum to a different subdirectory and repoint all links, etc. to it?

Or do I have to start from scratch?

Just move the files, yes, and then use repair_settings.php.  What is repair_settings.php?
