Tag user

Hello

I have question that could sound ridiculous to confirmed SMF users but I manage a forum for only 2 months (even if it's an old one) so I don't know a lot things about all this 

Is there a possibility to "tag" users, like in facebook when someone leaves a comment with the name of someone and the users gets notified ?

I'd like to use this kind of functionnality to improve traffic and motivate people to come back faster 

If it already exists where can I find this ?

I don't know if it exists for SMF but I do know from experience that it does have a non trivial performance consequence to deal with, as in it does have significant issues on hosts if you're *really* not careful.

I don't think it would significantly involve traffic or motivate people to come back unless there's some good content in the first place...

I can't remember what it was called, tried searching and must be too tired but coming up blank.

What about that card mod you mentioned once upon a time where a user's profile card would come up?  If a person started with that mod and put a simple mailto on the end of it maybe?

You can always try, backup first of course.  Most mods of the 2.0.x flavour seem to work OK with 2.04 that I've tried.

if it works with at least 2.0.1 then 9 times out of ten it's compatible with 2.0.2 or HIGHER.  2.0.4 users have this MOD installed on their site and works fine.

It's a decent custom mod, and actually pretty cheap from what I recall.  Though, the BIGGEST issue you're going to deal with is support for the MOD.  I bought the social network MOD,  back in November, and posted support questions, here it is now May, and no response (which you can see from my attached post posting a response today lol).  Worst part about the support site, is posts are set to "ADMIN APPROVAL" ... so you can't just let other members see your posts and help you, you have to wait for the admin to log on, see it, then approve it ... which could be weeks later   Good Luck with it.
