For this I quote my previous post, and I voted no:
Quotewell I see bloc's tiny portal does need allot of support, but so does every portal including my SimplePortal which I get even more because it doesn't have any admin at all.
TP is a good portal, but it doesn't need to have a subforum.
tinyportal.net I think will do for now...
To tell you the truth I would not want my SimplePortal mod having a subforum here, as it makes it harder for me to check everything and I barely ever check the mod topic :P

yeah :)

But BLoc wants to have a child board? :)

word.

You can vote, protest, make riots, picket lines, go see your congreesmen, etc. But if bloc doesnt want to support tp in more than one place, it isnt happening,

With that said, i think it is a good idea. With blocs approval, of course.

Bloc already stated he would like a child board. ;)

im a beta tester of TP too... as what borgBOB said, it might divide Bloc's attention but it would be great to have one here and he needs help, im willing to help him.

btw, TinyPortal is GREAT!

I personally don't know bloc that well. To be honest he hardly strikes me as the kind of guy who is going to say that he feels Tinyportal should have a child board here.

And also without putting words in his mouth because he speaks freely for himself around here anyways I think he feels that he wouldn't like it perceived that he is using his postion here as a member of staff to gain such a privilege.

Most people that beta test Tinyportal would suggest that he is too modest too!  ;)

I voted "yes"

I think a portal add on is an important tool/utility for the growth of SMF, and if this is a nod/indication of support of bloc's excellent work to date I'm all for it.  I hope it breeds a collaboration and communication between SMF devs and Bloc/tiny portal dev(s)?  (I'm not saying there isn't that now, i'm just saying it'll be  a good thing...)

Although we may be overrating the importance of the "mod" having a child board here, I still think it's a good idea/important to do.

No, I haven't stated that I want one, I said there is really no need - since the mod is not even available here yet. The reason for example Mambo got its sub-board was of NEED, and I assume that goes before anything - as it should.

I am honored you take this up of course :) ...but one of the reasons I changed bloczone.net to tinyportal.net was to use that place for many of the questions/support during this beta period I have. So it would be more stable once its put up here again.

Yes - I predict Tiny portal will be the leading portal solution for SMF. Why not have a childboard about it? :)

redone

Wouldn't a child board be easier to follow than a mod thread anyway? Threads for mods are sometimes difficult to navigate around unless you know specifically what you are looking for.

I voted yes simply because when bloc releases v1.0 of TP it will need a comprehensive forum here to support the masses flocking to it. It may not be necessary now, but sure will be soon. The combination of his fabulous themes and integrated portal into the SMF framework will rocket this software into high gear in battle with the pay forums IMO.

I use TP beta .6.2 on my board and it is well received.

I think it should have a child board due to the fact that it'll be easier to find info on it. The smf forum is a massive place to be searching all over the place for the same thing. Maybe any previous topics concerning it might be moved there for easier browsing.

holidayworld

with all the help and information Bloc has he will be able to help even more.

Thank's for all the help and support.

Good to see people have forgotten the idea.

Perhaps it might be worth taking into account that TP is not available to the public yet. Once it is, a child board may be a more viable option.
SMF RC1, Tiny Portal 0.75, Coppermine 1.3.3, Flashchat.

All you have to do is post in a thread and bloc will give you access. The testing isn't really closed to a select few testers. Here is a simple two step guide to gain access to Tinyportal (TP).

It's that easy!

And it won't stay this way for long either ;)

It was/is just a good way to make people aware that it is a beta. This procedure is really more work for myself than anything else. ::)

I just register.  I decided to go give it a try since I don't have school today and tomorrow and I'm going to have some free time.
