Hi

Im using RC1, i myself never have any problems at all, but some of my members or people wanting to be member cannot open anylinks, like if they try to open registration button they get some "no authorisation" message. So i tried it on my pc at work, and i too found i had this problem, then after about 3 mins of try it all of a sudden worked. Same thing happen to a friend of mine, i was talking to him on msn, he was saying "no its not letting me in" then he tried 1 more time and it worked. Does anyone have any idea's why this happens.

Thank you for any help.

Shane

Thanks for looking into this with me. Well unfortunately i cant give you the exact error because it seems to work perfectly for me, but i have emailed one of my members who is having problems to give me exactly what the error says. When it happened to me i can remember it was something like a white page, with something to the effect of "you do not have authorisation" something like this. I will get a more detailed description though. Thanks.

Perhaps "You do not have permission to access /index.php on this server"? I've seen that before but don't remember what the exact cause or fix was...

Ok i got the error.

Its just the 403 error

If you wish to see it 1st hand the forum is at www.aussiestreeters.com [nofollow]

The weird thing is it works fine for me, and a couple of other people, but everyone else gets the error, and if your persistent enough it eventually lets you in  :o

Yeah, that looks like mod_security. Take a look at the topic Ben linked to above.

Rat454

thanks for the help so far guys, well i did what the "mod security" thread suggested, but the server wouldnt let me rename the file from htaccess.txt to .htaccess, so i also made the phpinfo.php file and uploaded it too http://www.aussiestreeters.com/phpinfo.php [nofollow] im not sure if this helps you any, but i thought i would give it a try. Thanks again.

Are you by any chance running on a Windows server? Windows automatically assumes that everything following the last "." in a file name is the extension, so you can't name a file ".htaccess"...

Rat454

Its a Linux server. :). hmm i just checked and i cant understand why the phpinfo file isnt loading, i have done everything that the tutorial suggests. I will try it again from step 1.

Rat454

its definately in www.aussiestreeters.com/phpinfo.php [nofollow] and the file contains <?php phpinfo(); ?> but for some reason it just isnt loading  ???

Rat454

Sorry i dont mean to take up you guys time too much, just trying my hardest to fix this problem.

Ben_S

Can you find out if it's a windows or *nix server?
