This mod will reverse the default behavior of SMF 2 where the header collapse is concerned.

The default behavior is for the header to be expanded so that the "quick login" can be viewed at all times. This mod will change this so that the default is collapsed, and the header will have to be expanded manually by a guest in order to view the quick login boxes.

This results in a smaller header by default, leaving more screen space for visitors to display actual site content.

This modification is a simple "swap" of the true/false state of the collapse for an initial state for a user or guest. It also swaps the images, so that the proper collapse/expand image is used.

Since this is just a "reverse order" and no "real" coding was required, the license should be and therefore is the exact same as SMF 2.0.6. Anyone has permission to make changes as they see fit to this mod, copy it, sell it, burn it, print it out and throw it in the trash. I really don't care what you do with it, but I hope at least one other person besides myself finds it useful. Claim it as your own, and it won't bother me one bit there either.

I like your good attitude, and think this could be sort of useful.
However, there may be some guests who wont know that there is something hidden.
Some people never seem to see that little arror to use the header.
However, that is why they have Register and Login on the menu. ;)

This is a neat mod idea, and I'd love to see many more mods from you. :)

Great idea for those who have asked about this in the past.

One question, though. How did you manage to get it past the "this mod is too small to be on the mod site" check? Larger mods than this have been rejected previously, based on their size.

@Shambles, the size is not a constraint anymore. It was decided so some weeks (months?) ago.

Ok thanks BA - I shalln't mention it again, though that decision doesn't seem to have been made public.

Yes, it is true that some people won't know that there is something hidden, but, like you say, Login and Register are on the menu.

That wasn't really a concern of mine for the particular site it was designed for, however. This mod came about because of a particular site with a custom need. This site has membership "assigned" and registration is disabled. People can post and write articles if they are members, but guests can only view the contents and will never be able to post. The site was almost like a cross between a wiki, forum, and blog, but only using SMF2 with a knowledge base modification and a blog modification to be able to handle the different aspects. The forum part (where discussions happen) was actually closed to guests. Only the blogs and knowledge base was viewable by the guests. Over 100 mods on that site total, including a download center for support files, etc., and even a mod to remove the "Register" from the menu.

For that type of site, this mod makes perfect sense. I've tried this on 54 themes so far, and it worked on all 54. But, then again, those are all themes written by me.
