Cannot install mod - Safemode restriction in effect

Hi,

  I wanted to install a chat mod in the Package manager, but it seems that safemode is enabled by the webhost thus I get an error. 

file_put_contents() [<a href='function.file-put-contents'>function.file-put-contents</a>]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 41479 is not allowed to access /mnt/storage/users/d/u/a/dualfans/bbs/Packages/temp owned by uid 81

  Is there a way to install a mod manually? Just converted and installed SMF from Phpbb last week.

You might want to give 1.1 a try, as it does handle safemode better. You can unzip the package, find a file *.mod or install.xml and follow the instructions in that file.

I didn't see a .mod or install file after I have unzipped the package.  Where could I find it? Help!

Look for a *.xml file if there is no *.mod file. Which chat mod are you trying to install?

There is no *.mod or install.xml

The mod is Integrated Chat Mod

IntegratedChat22.xml contains instructions on installing the file.

Hi,

   The link http://mods.simplemachines.org/docs/manual-install.php
is not working.  Where could I find one? I'm getting errors because there is no procedure where to put the files since the package manager doesn't work

The link I posted in my second post is the closest to manual. What exactly is the problem? The actual changes you have to make in the files or where to put additional files?
