Lately it has become virtually impossible to post a message using the current WYSIWYG, without getting extra garbage all over the post. I was just wondering if it is possible to use Sam Clarke's SCEditor in SMF version 2.0.6, and if it is what do I need to do? I cannot use 2.0.7 and 2.1 will probably required to start all over again, with mods....
I check Sam Clarke's SCEditor web page but SMF does not have a mod for, But then I read Trekkie101 post and realise that it has already been implemented in SMF 2.1.
Would it work if you just copy over the new .php to the old ones and adding the new .js in the script folder?
Any help would be appreciated...
Thank You

Thank you for that.

BTW the above post does show what I get using Chrome. With Mozilla you get less errors...

Well I've trying the above mentioned mod but it has too many bugs...

So my question is still good. If anyone know of how to implement the Sam Clarke's SCEditor in SMF 2.0.6 or any good working editors without any added bugs, I would love to hear from you...

not sure what you are doing, but it certainly looks liike bad input as opposed to bad code.

We know that the current 2.0.x wysiwyg editor is buggy (that's why we replaced it in 2.1) however, the stuff I am seeing from your posts indicates, to me that you are doing something moderately wrong with your use of size, color and font tags.

Thanks guys, I'll be happily work with your questions. Let start with the bugs in SCEditor4SMF. These is the list of problems/bug that I experienced:

1) Couldn't get the cursor out of the quote area. (Fix it with the download of the patch)
2) The more avatar window is broken and it doesn't have the much needed scroll bar
3) You cannot stop the original editor for popping up in some instances and therefore you end up having two editor posts in places such as user profile
4) It won't recognise some of the BBC custom code (things like undo, redo, and progress Bar) I'm sure there are more if I keep digging.

Now as far as the the bad code that you can see in most of my reply here, that has began to happen since I started to use chrome. FYI I actually never had a problem with Mozilla and SMF WYSIWYG other than the occasional loosing the entire post in a screen refresh. I'm not doing anything else more than typing and click post. No size or color changes what so ever. Sometime I get a different ones, but believe me I'm not clicking on anything and it has become very hard to post a message. If I click preview, the post looks fine, but when i click Post, well you can see what is happening...

In the short time I got to use the SCEditor I did not experience any problem with posting a message, as it had not extra text or garbage on the screen. Therefore I don't know if it is something with my setup of chrome or some incompatibility issue between SMF editor and chrome. Another thing is that I do experience this only with forums using SMF. So far it has not happen with VB or phpBB...

Now if I turn WYSIWYG off here and in my forum then all problems are gone. But that's not really a way to fix something. Doing that it just put SMF down to the same level as all those other forums.

That's why I was asking you guys if it was the chance to install the SCEditor that comes with 2.1, or to make it as a mod for 2.0.x, because that at the moment could fix all this. Then again if the one that come with 2.1 still has the same bugs that ScEditor4SMF has, then I'm really going into a dead end...

As as you can see from the post above, it is also a random problem.... FFS

no. I can pretty much guarantee that you can not just take the 2.1 code into 2.0.x

And since you seem to be the only one with these issues (and I am certain there are other users ho use the wysiwyg and chrome) I will still have to assume that there is something specific to your own installation of chrome (some sort of add-on, or something else running on your PC)

1. The 2.1 SCEditor is a different one, that is coded into the core of 2.1 as far as i have tested it, it didn' t  had much troubles a few bugs yes what do we expect from an Alpha version :D

2. The SCEditor i did mention above is only and only for SMF 2.0.x branches !!

3. so it seems like you mixed up, those 2

4. try another browser like Opera/Firefox to be sure what goes wrong...

5. Scan your pc for malaware as it looks like its coming from your own end as Kindred mentioned

6. also check your own setup of the forum, that there are no other known mods are interfering the SCEditor wich is likely the cause of it
