Clicking Category Name Takes You To The Category vs Forum Index

Steve

I did a search for both 'category' and 'categories' and read each post that didn't go back 3 years and none of them ask for this so I'm asking if this has been given any thought.

If I click on 'SMF Development' on the navigation tree shown in the attachment I'd like to be taken to the 'SMF Development' category with it showing me only the boards in that category instead of being taken to the forum index.

Has this been discussed and accepted or rejected? And if rejected, could you tell me why?

:)

it should take you to the category in the board index unless your browser does not respect the anchor that is present in the link.

It has been mentioned a few times... mostly it hasn't been considered a major issue -- but there is a mod to display the category only page... and another mod to display categories as tabs - and thus show only the board in that category

The tabs mod is too drastic a change for my members and the category only page mod hasn't been updated in 3 years. I was just curious if this had been considered as an integral part of SMF vs being a mod. :)

I don't think it was ever considered as a feature... mostly because it's not really a common request. :)

actually, this one

The main reason it isn't done is to avoid duplication of content that can be a search engine penalty.

Thanks Kindred ... will have a look at it. Not sure how I missed it in my search.

And thanks Arantor.
