Report email shows reporter email address

Hello!

We have a problem with our forum. We changed our server recently and moved all files and databases to the new one. Now we have a problem that when someone reports a post, the forum sends email to all moderators but the email shows the reporters email. The email has to addresses in the "from" field, it has our webmaster email address and the reporters email address. Also the "reply-to" field has the reporters email address. Of course this is not a desired function because it can reveal users identity to the moderators if the users use real names in their email addresses. What is causing this? I've tried to use our alternative gmail account with the smtp settings but it doesn't change a thing, that reporter address persists. I used repair_settings.php file if there was something wrong with settings but no. I tried this mod http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1465 but no change. This is getting pretty frustrating.

What you're describing is actually a normal function of SMF.  When you go to report a post there is a warning message displayed to users: "Please note that your email address will be revealed to the moderators if you use this."  Your users should see this warning too - try it for yourself - so at least they are aware and there's nothing sneaky going on.  As always you should make sure your moderators are people you trust with the responsibilities they have and if you don't trust your moderators to see user email addresses on the occasion posts are reported, perhaps they should not be moderators.

Oh, my moderators just reported to me that they didn't notice this kind of behaviour with our last server setup. Thank you for your clarification on the matter! I'll pass this along.

this has been changed in 2.1 and it will no longer send out the users email address when reporting a message.
