So... Levertine. A home for me to sell paid mods, and while the site is still a little rough around the edges right now, what's for sale isn't. Right now, of course, it's just Levertine Gallery, but more mods will be coming soon.

Customisation-wise, if anyone's interested, my gallery, helpdesk, Bloc's BlueLight theme fixed up for current SMF and a minimalist storefront. More will likely be added in due course. :)

Got to hand it to you captain the mods brilliant.
As commented to you before on your site.
I just haven't said that much with regards to bloc theme
I am truly blown away and impressed with how he laid it out and the colour scheme thats gone in it.
It seems so simple and yet so powerful and stylish the way hes done it.
The guys amazing, and hes got talent.
I think i know why you choose him.

You should increase the minimum height of your body. Apart from that, it's a nice theme.

Arantor

One isn't set and the theme was never designed to work that way, and the problem is there's no really good value I can actually use for that :(

Honestly it would probably make more sense to fix the background from under the footer than trying to wrangle a sane min-height.

All of Bloc's themes from back then had the same problem though :(

That theme looks brilliant, when all the fonts are in ComicSans!

As you know, my eyes prefer darker themes. Apart from that, the place looks like everything my cat does.

Nice'n'neat. :)

html {background: #fff;}

Sorted. :)

And hey, you're promoting a gallery. If some pages look a bit bare, showcase the product.

Arantor

Well, there was only one page I could think of where that would be a thing and that's only a short page because I only have one product to sell right now :P But I did fix the background, thanks :)

Arantor, LevGal looks very clean and useful. And I suspect the backend is impressive too, as always with your mods.

I read in another topic about comparison with other gallery mods - in my opinion features are great, but not everything is equally useful. Better to be *great* in some key features, rather than mediocre in lots of things. I espeically like that you stuck to default styles for templates - that means themes will shine in your mods(which cannot always be said for others). You mentioned you are not designer - makes great sense to allow designers to do great things with it, without having to manually change its template. I wish more mod authors thought that way.

Thanks for the comments about the theme used on Levertine.com...glad its put to good use. You could simply remove Mootols(if you havent already), I think I only used it for the menu there.

And good luck with it. :)

Arantor

Thank you :)

Yes, I'd rather have fewer, but great, features rather than many features that have little use, and I was very careful to keep the custom CSS to a relative minimum so it would work well on custom themes - I did try a decent variety of themes to see if I could break it. I don't think there's anything significant I missed but if I did, I can investigate on a case by case basis :)

As for the theme... you made a great theme, simple as that :) I did remove MooTools since I couldn't get it to play nicely with jQuery, and replaced the menu with CSS using the same colour scheme... though that minification you did on MooTools was something else entirely.

Bloc

lol, yes, its a minfication scheme I've used a few times - its from http://www.bananascript.com/index.php?compress and give quite a good compress ratio.

Arantor

It does but trying to deminify it to work with anything... yeah. I was very impressed with how it worked though, most intense minification I've seen yet.

Well I checked it on the login page. That's one people frequently ask about for this sot of thing, due to its minimal content.

Arantor

Ahhhhh, yes, I forgot about that one. Well, I changed that in the stylesheet :)

Bloody hell. That's compressed alright.

I did notice this though:

Quote from: FAQThis compression tool is designed for and tested on webpages with the iso-8859-1 charset. Other charsets have not been tested and might or might not work.

Arantor

Yes, but the script tag as included actually included indication of charset so worked as intended on UTF-8 pages as far as I could tell.

By the way, did you manage to de-compress the results? Not that it should be necessary, since people should supply expanded working copies for playing with.

ETA: Just thought I'd try something...

Arantor

I did but it ended up being quicker to gut it and use CSS than figure out MooTools and MenuMatic ;)

Antechinus

ROFL. Fair enough. It's certainly very good compression though. Knocks 45% off the already-"minifed" jQuery library.

Arantor

Yes but when I'm knocking 99.5% off :P

Seriously, though, this is something I did a lot of in the gallery and will do it with future things I do... I can build most of the JS code I do without jQuery - the only times I included that were for the components that wanted it.

I tend to suggest http://youmightnotneedjquery.com/ to people :)
