Hey doods

I'm trying to convert my board from vB 4.2.2 to SMF 2.0.9.

I'm getting this error:

Sorry, the database connection information used in the specified installation of SMF cannot access the installation of vBulletin 4.0. This may either mean that the installation doesn't exist, or that the Database account used does not have permissions to access it.

The error that was received from the Database was: SELECT command denied to user 'bucketdu_smf'@'localhost' for table 'bucketdu_user'

I've typed everything correct, but I'm not sure what exactly is going on. I've read around that it needs like MySQL and phpMyAdmin and all of that jazz and it's got that, I can log into phpMyAdmin and everything just fine. Not sure if it's an issue I need to bring up with my host or what.

Hi and welcome to sm.org ;)

The MySQL user that is configured to access SMF's database must be allowed to access (SELECT) the database where vB is installed. Ask your host for help if you are unsure.
Another possibility is that you reinstall SMF, this time using the same database (and thus, the same user). They use different table prefixes so you should be fine. A backup wouldn't hurt, though ;)

So you suggest re-installing SMF but this time using the same database as my vB installation?

Should I try to convert after I install, or just install and see the results?

Edit: Tried both, neither worked :(
I previously tried converting to MyBB just to test to see if it was actually a host error but that worked. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong?

Did you get the same error when installing SMF in the same database as vB? That's not possible :o

Yeah, I did get the same error. I read up on both of those, only reason I posted this thread was because I didn't know, maybe I have a unique error or something and I wasn't sure if I'd need to contact my host.
