All:

I hope to make at least one of my boards similar to the Show-Case board on this site. Starting a new topic requires admin approval, but  reply posts do not. Would I need a special mod for this? I found a thread applicable to version 1.1.11 but I use SMF 2.0 RC3 with SimplePortal 2.3.2.

I hope the solutions isn't too complicated. Thanks for any help with this.

You may want this topic moved to mod requests, I do not see a mod that does this, nor settings in boards as default.

I think you require post moderation method .

TO do that  go to

 * Board Name »
    * Forum »
    * Administration Center »
    * Permissions »
    * Edit Profiles

create a new profile . Name it anything you like ( i named it Approval)

Now , Click on profile approval and set permissions for each group.

Post new topics, without requiring approval << just untick that options for whom you want Starting a new topic requires admin approval.

Hope this helps you :)

@ (F.L.A.M.E.R) thanks. the mod installs fine, but when i try to unapprove a topic the page navigates to the admin center and the post is still visible. what i am looking for is something that puts the new topics for a specific board in some queue that's only visible by admins (or mods too!) and can only go live after their approval approval. perhaps i didn't explain it well in my initial post. if i can add a minimum post count beyond which no approval is required, that would be great.

@ johnccccc precisely, am looking to fix the settings so the board becomes just like the show-case board you linked.

@ Joker  thanks for the instructions. i was able to follow until the part

QuotePost new topics, without requiring approval << just untick that options for whom you want Starting a new topic requires admin approval.
for some reason i only have three options listed there with check-boxes: 1. post new topics 2. post replies to a topic they started. 3. post replies to any topic.

Do you have moderation enabled in Admin -> Core Features?
