Bot spamming all over my board

Hi. It has been like 2 months since my forum started getting attacked by bots which spam their stuff on my board. Luckily I just get two or three bots per day, but still I don't want them to appear.

I've installed a mod, an anti-bot system or something like that,  I thought it could have worked but it doesn't seem to work. Bots still easily register on my forum and spam their ******e..

What can I do? Is there another anti bot mod which actually works? Thanks for your replies and for your time.

Thanks for quick replies. I'm going to read that guide, I'm using Anti Bot: Are You Human/Bot? mod at the moment but as I said it is not working at all.

Alright, I've set an harder system to pass the captcha test and I've also added 5 questions before to register. I will let you know in future days if new bots will appear..

We wouldn't advise you to make captcha too hard... Bots break captcha, humans have more difficulties, so you might end up hurting potential members
As for the questions, define 10-20 questions and ask for 3 at registration. That will shuffle them and make it so that bots don't store your Q&A easily.

Can we see your forum? Questions are a great defense against bots, but if you ask "2+2" then they're useless
Questions should be niche-specific (if possible of course) and something that a quick Google search doesn't return as first hit (yes, bots do Google). Use your imagination

I've added 15 Italian questions which bots shouldn't be able to answer .. I think. Have a go and tell me if I should try harder.
