Want to use the Mod, but have some problems. I have installed a few Mods that add buttons to the Menu, like Notepad, Like and Enhancement to recent posts, which have sub menus.

In the second one, the "Posts" & "New Posts" (child of Posts) both use "action=unread". How do I deal with that ?
Notepad has a "pop up in new window" option that also uses action=notepad. Any suggestions ?

The only thing you would need to know is the action.
Once you got that, you just go to the SMI folder and add your icons, the name of each file should be action.png

I sorted out the problem with the Right Click / Open image in New Tab
and then using those names. With the action="name" process I was having difficulty with things like this
action=unread;all;start=0

Hi Diego,

I am using ver 2.0.11

I installed a newly created theme, and I have installed SF Knowledge Base Mod and SMF Article Mod, and SMF Gallery.

The menu didn't appear on the new theme so I un-installed and re-installed. Worked perfect.

Problem = Knowledge Base, SMF Article, and SMF Gallery are in the menu, but there are no icons for them.

I know to upload the attached ones to Themes/default/images/smi, but don't know how to write the path to them.

I thank you in advance for any help you can give.

You need to name the icons with the menu action.
E.g, if the gallery link says action=gallery, the icon should be gallery.png

Try naming those icons articles.png, gallery.png and kb.png

Thank you Diego, I read that in a previous post, but it didn't make sense. Sorry.   :-[    I understand it now.   :)

No php file.   Name the actual image files like the action

Another method. Right click on the missing icon and select "open image in new tab". That tab will say 404 / Not found but will give you the name for the icon that the software is searching for. Upload your icons with those names & it will begin to work.

Hi skb,
Doing this just loaded the window, no error. A good thing I believe.  :P

Hey Kindred,   :)
Yup, perfectly, exactly, correct.

*nods* uh huh

So, what was my issue?  Why didn't it work?
I had uploaded the files: Article.png, Gallery.png, and KB.png
What was the problem?

The solution=

  • Rename Article.png to articles.png
  • Rename Gallery.png to gallery.png
  • Rename KB.png to kb.png

Amazing that just Capitalizing a single letter can do.

Yes... unlike Windoze --  variable names in php and filenames in Linux are case sensitive

is is too much of a hassle to simply not display any icon for the menu buttons that it can't find ?

i like the mod but have many mods and changes to the app bar and i don't want to mess around adding images for them.

if it's too much hassle then i will not bother but thanks anyway.

The purpose of the mod is to add icons to the menu.
If there is no image "directed" at the menu item, that menu item will appear like this   Profile Profile

The number of mods that you have has no bearing on the functionality of this mod.

I like the little icons because it looks nice.

what I mean is that I have many options on the app bar and the doubling up of the functions without the little icons goes over 3 lines.

eg. Downloads, Knowledge Base, Gallery - all mods that end up on the app bar ... i have 95 mods on.

no problem, just thought it would be an easy change.
