Hi my name is Jesse, I am ironically making this post at 12 am on my birthday so im a little tired and excited. So if i a make weird grammar mistakes i am sorry in advance.

But anyway,... I am creating aa forum page and want to upgrade to 2.0.14 so i can get most of the  mods i want. some being.

Shoutbox
Simple Awards etc

But i seem to be struggling a bit. Here's why everytime i go to upgrade to just about any version this pops up.

Now i don't know  why the  file  is being skipped or whatever i looked at the file in folder and it  was all there. Also when i put the ftpin it loads for awhile then just loads the same page again am i doing something wrong? Please help. Thanks in advance  :)

Happy Birthday. In your Admin center you should see a link to upgrade, have you tried using that? Make sure to do full backups first.

Take a look at this link on how to patch to newer versions. (2.0.9 to 2.0.10 to 2.0.11 etc...) https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Patching

The file being skipped means it is not relevant to it installing properly so if you get that warning, it is ok to proceed.

Happy birthday too btw :)

Thank you. It leads me to the package manager were the same thing in the image happens

Steve

As br360 said, do it the way the link shows by using the package manager. As long as you don't get a red 'test failed' warning you'll be okay.

I followed that but it says it needs a  ftp i don't know if i am putting that in wrong or somthing.  Becuase it just reloads the same page and don't say anything was installed.

and thank you for the happy birthday. :)

The ftp is for downloading a backup of your files and folders. Other than that, it's simply a matter of clicking the 'Update Available' link in the Admin Center. If there are no red flags, then click 'Install' at the bottom of the page. Done.

Look in Admin -> Package Manager, you should be able to upgrade one step at a time from there.

If you can pm admin access (link/username/password) I'll have a look.

funny that you should ask:

I started at 2.0.9 and stepped up one by one until 2.0.14.

it was painless and smooth. I have 130+ mods on and there were no significant conflicts.

I had to upgrade php for 2.0.14 but that was the only issue that I recall.

check your file permissions and make sure that your directories are writeable.

after each upgrade, reload the page and scroll to the bottom to confirm that the version number had changed.

ignore the ftp bits unless you use ftp. you should see each patch in your list of packages.

check your logs for errors.
The configuration of my Linux VPS (SMF 2.0 with 160+ mods & some assorted manual tweaks) can be found here and notes on my mods can be found here (warning: those links will take you to a drug related forum). My (House) music DJ dedication page is here

Not that there's anything wrong with aegersz's suggestions but go with Sir Osis offer of taking a look. You can trust him.
