Hi guys,

Do you know why these 2 URLs link to the same page?

https://www.db-z.com/forum/index.php?topic=8.35 [nofollow] (for some reason I ignore, this one contains "<meta name="robots" content="noindex">)
https://www.db-z.com/forum/index.php/topic,8.30.html [nofollow]

Note : These 2 URLs begin with "https://"

Antes

they show same topic different with different post, 35/30 stands for the posts, but SMF does not jump to the specific post because of the msgID is different... I have no idea what is the intention behind this decision, if you are getting duplicated content errors from Google, you might want to search for different solutions, like redirecting Tracker/Crawlers to specific topic link point.

Saiy

No, there's no duplicate content error, as one of those 2 pages is marked as "noindex".

Arantor

I don't know why you get the 8.35 version but what happens is that when that version is hit, it works out where the 35th post in topic is, rounds that to the nearest page default that you normally have (which I think in your case is 15 per page so it rounds down to the nearest multiple which is 30) and gets you to the same page.

But because it's not the same as your per-page default (it's not a multiple of 15), it's marked noindex so it's not considered a duplicate.

Saiy

Actually I use SMF since 2008 on my website... So, I suspect it may be caused by an older version, or by the use of "Pretty Url" (looooong time ago).
The end of the URL format are indeed different : "?topic=8.35" and "/topic=8.30.html"

Anyway, as Arantor said, there's no problem.
I was just wondering where my "Google Search Console" have found these thousands URLs marked as "not indexed because of the meta noindex".
Thanks for the helps, you can close this topic
