Hello all,

Who knows the correct chmods for maps&files > smf.2.13 fresh install? 8)  :)

I read for maps 755 and for files 644, but this not always working because, setting and setting.backup must be writible says systeem, sometime when you made a upgrade, but 777 means everebody can change your file thats not ok?!

So afther your upgrade, your maps&files  must be back chmod to 755&644 so far i knowing, correct me if i m wrong!? 8)

Mabay a script can do this for us?  ???

I read, we can use 777 if you got a good hoster, because he block al not welcomed attacks, but wat to do if you hosting by yourself? ;D

Thanks for your time!

If your system requires 777, then your host has php misconfigured.

However, smf has good security snd 777 should not be a hazard for any smf files.

Hello Kindred,

Thanks for the tip, 8)  :)

I use php7.4 but can change this to php8.0,

When i do the install of smf2.13, i saw a install reading about the php use, forgotten, so thats the first i will try to correct it,

Shortly told, if have php correctly tuned, then Smf 2.13 can use 755 for maps and 644 for files?

generally yes. 755/644 is sufficient for most installations  775/664 for almost all others....  777/666 is almost never needed
