It's nicely done but it would sure take some getting used to. I can't make it switch to English so there's not much more I can add at this time.

Probably because it just stacks down the page on mobile.

People have been trying for years to get away from "standard forum layout" and "create something different", but in practice this always seems to be a case of "Umm, how can I jumble things up and call it new without making it completely horrendous?".

Surprisingly, I like it. I've always wanted to do something like this for my board index so to make it feel less of a forum.

I think there's value in having a home page that presents information differently; the board index is not particularly good for the first impression, not any more.

Having the front page promoting key content in bold ways, rather than just showcasing the taxonomy, is important. Who'd read a blog if the front page were just a list of the categories that posts were in?

Yes, that's a fair point, at least for a lot of sites. Although if I wanted that effect I'd be inclined to go with a portal or with custom-coded pages, rather than trying to make the board index do the whole shebang.

English is unavailable. I didn't like the recent messages at first. The block layout of the screens was very interesting. I liked the style.

I think the "Sections" column could be a bit wider, to show more of the text there.

Since it is a thing the theme does, it seems solid to have it here. Me personally, I'd be all for it replacing the front page and having the board index - should one want it - elsewhere not on the front page.

That's why I like the portal mods. Makes the front page whatever the admin wants, instead of the board index.

What I really liked was the possibility to make several changes to the layout. with some final tweaks it could represent an upgrade in the style of the themes, it has a more modern look, portal style. A dark version would also be very interesting.

I do like the unique approach and can definitely appreciate the effort. It's a bit weird seeing the language, but I would probably give this a go if I had an SMF forum.
