Hi, i'm having a language issue. My smf version is 2.0.19, and I'm using PHP 7.4.

The problem is that the forum goes blank, but doesn't log any errors. I've used repair_settings, and all the paths are fine. The problem comes from the default language, "spanish_es-utf8," because if I change it to English, the forum works again without problems.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It worked perfectly on my previous hosting provider; it's not something i've touched in the code.

Thnxx.

What about your server error log? Can you check it and see if there are any messages logged in there recently?

you will have to check with your host -   a blank page is a php failure and it should be logged on the server error log (not in SMF)

if you don't have a server error log, then check with your host as to why not.

Sometimes errors that cause blank pages are reflected in your browser's console log.

No error appears. I'll tell you, I solved the problem by importing the database into ISO-8859-15 instead of UTF8. Is there any significant difference? I see accents, 'ñ', special characters...

Hi. I'm posting this thread because the other guy didn't know what was causing the blank page.

Version: 2.0.19; php -> 7.4

As I mentioned, the forum was completely blank when I migrated it. The error is when I uploaded the database in UTF8 format, which is actually the language -> spanish_es_utf8. However, if I upload it in ISO 8859-x, I don't have any problems and it displays correctly. However, in this encoding, the texts aren't saved legibly, as they were when I uploaded it with UTF8.

Do you know any way to rule out what's causing the forum to be completely blank and without errors when uploading the database through phpmyadmin with UTF8 encoding?

Oh...   well, if you tried to run UTF-8 language without converting the database, then it could cause problems...
it's more than just using the UTF8 language pack --  you need to do a conversion of the content and also change several markers in Settings and the database to use UTF8

HOWEVER... I'll say again - a white screen indicates a SERVER failure. If there is no server error log (again, NOT SMF, this error log is on the server side) then you need to have a conversation with your host -- because it indicates that they have a BAD configuration if they are not logging server failures!!

Do note that you will have to convert to UTF8 when you upgrade to 2.1.x

note2: Merged your other thread. Please do not start two threads on the exact same issue.
