Had an odd problem customizing theme.  Changed link color to light blue (#84B4E1) on dark background, but forum admin is seeing dark blue (something like #000080) in Chrome.  Looks fine to me -

But he sees this -

Only place #000080 was used is in .codeoperation, which sets the Select link color on code block.  All links are affected, not just sidebars.  Looks ok to me in FF and Opera.

Browsers allow defining text and link colors to override css, sure that's not what is happening here?

How you can help SMF

No, I found the dark blue color in two css classes that shouldn't have affected the links in the screenshot, and didn't in FF and Opera.  Changed them to light blue, looks the same to me, but now Chrome displays it correctly.

I'm reminded of earlier times when Netscape and IE were the big competing browsers.  You'd design a nice looking webpage in one, and it would look like crap in the other.  So you'd have to recode it and go back and forth until you got something that looked equally mediocre in both.  CSS was supposed to fix that, but apparently it didn't quite. :(

Probably some rogue :visited pseudo class hanging around the file?

Don't think so, it seemed to affect mostly unvisited links, as in the sidebars.  Couldn't reproduce it in my browsers, and don't think I saved a copy of the borked index.css, but it's working fine now on production forum.

I'm finding that some of the newer themes seem to defeat the FF inspector, it's sometimes difficult to pick out a specific element.
